Comments Thread For: Alexander: If No Floyd, Let Maidana Avenge Loss To Me

On February 25th, 2012, Marcos Maidana was dominated in a decision loss to former two division champion Devon Alexander in a fight broadcast live on HBO. The judge's final scores were 100-90 twice and 99-91.

After the fight Maidana contemplated retirement but decided to continue with his career after his adviser Sebastian Contursi was able to secure the services of world class trainer Robert Garcia. The rest is history as Maidana blossomed under the tutelage of Garcia and won his next four fights in dominating fashion.

IMO there are few things more pathetic than when the winner is begging for a rematch. Always a sign of irrelevance.

Now everyone wants to dance with Maidana... Really don't care about Alexander & his 24/7 clinching... Happy for Maidana, he can now get big money fights.

All Maidana has against Alexander is a punchers chance. As long as the referee is not drunk like Weeks Maidana will just get schooled. Good thing is Alexander is not reactionary like Mayweather. He doesn't need to feel you, he just goes straight on.
The commission needs to investigate Robert Garcia for always telling his fighters to be dirty. That's unacceptable.

yeah last Saturday i was thinking "I really wanna see Alexander fight again, Maidana should fight him and not Mayweather,Matthysse, Thuman, Porter etc".... IF Alexander doesn't get that fight I really want to see him fight Mayweather, I mean coming off that Porter loss he's really relevant in the game.

I want to see this just to find out if the first fight was a as big a freak occurrence as it seems right now. Nothing in Maidana's career before or after that fight makes him getting wiped out by Devon Alexander make any sense.

Maidana has gotten better with Garcia granted, but what Alexander did to Maidana he can do again and Floyd could have done the same thing, the problem is Alexander just popped and held all night and made it boring, Floyd's bull****ting a little when he says he did it for us but at the same time he's right, he doesn't do a lot of the stuff he can do to make a fight a lot easier because he can't afford to **** up PPV ratings and be boring as hell...we all know Floyd has the ability to run around the ring, slip out of corners, and hold all night and box ur head off, he's done it a million times before, but he let Maidana work on the inside unlike Alexander adn I honestly think Alexander adn Floyd can both do that to him again if they choose to
