Comments Thread For: Clottey Has Big Goals at 154, Talks Cotto-Martinez, More

Determined not to let his defeat to Manny Pacquiao remain the defining moment of his career, Joshua Clottey is back on the world scene following his highly convincing points win over Anthony Mundine two weeks ago.

The former IBF welterweight world champion surprised the home favourite in New South Wales with his power and speed whilst recording five knockdowns in the fight. Despite that, Clottey played down his performance when speaking to BoxingScene.

used to be a fan of Clottey
dude clearly has skills, a good chin, and solid defense
but after that shell up he pulled vs Pac, can't take him seriously
good for him beating Mundine, but what did he prove
he's got work to do to redeem himself as a contender
still think he'd lose to any top tier guys

Clottey's a beast at 154. He was just draining himself at 147 gaining 20+ pounds overnight after the weigh ins.

      WAR Clottey!!!

Good luck getting fights. It is hard to look good against him and he is a high risk low reward type of fighter.

Plus he thinks that he is a big star and might not want to take other opponents to make his case for the big payday again.

I like Clottey. I always have. I think he's tough for anyone at 154. I know he's gotten a lot of shet for the Pacquiao fight, and I won't say it's unwarranted. It was a bad performance, but I've always been rooting for the guy to bounce back. I hope, and think, he does.

I'm interested in a Cotto vs Clottey rematch at 154, win or lose for Cotto against Martinez.

The walking heavy bag. Not interested in watching him fight. He might be good enough to beat average/solid boxers but he's basically just somebody for others to fight on their way to a title shot. He'll never get there again after his pathetic performance vs Pacman.
