Shawn Porter’s victory over Paulie Malignaggi at the weekend will almost certainly result in Sheffield welterweight Kell Brook crossing the Atlantic in the summer for his shot at the IBF belt. Under the terms of their deal, the winner of Porter and Malignaggi were contractually obliged to defend against Brook within 90 days.

Word is that the fight may pop up as chief support on the undercard of Saul Alvarez vs Erislandy Lara bill, currently slated for the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, on the 12th of July. That card is promoted by Golden Boy – whose client list also includes Porter. It’s not a done deal, but it makes perfect sense.

Kell brook struggles to make weight its well documented. He fought at a catchweight in march at 51 thats closer to 54. He doesnt do the rounds well either. He gasses after 8 rounds. He had life and death with carson jones lol that says its all. Porter late stoppage.

I would buy this, no doubt. Thurman vs Mathysee would be another fight I would buy.

Good fight for this card. I just don't know what Kell can do to Porter. Kell hasn't been very Impressive and his opponents have been awful. Porter should win by stoppage unless Brook has something I haven't seen yet.
