Comments Thread For: Collazo: Ricky Hatton's Advice Won't Help Amir Khan

Luis Collazo has promised to "welcome" Amir Khan to the welterweight division by defeating the Bolton boxer when the pair clash at the MGM Grand next month.

Khan is stepping up to 147lbs from light-welterweight and fights Brooklyn-based Collazo for the vacant WBC Silver welterweight strap on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's bout with Marcos Maidana.

Former WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Khan has beaten New-Yorkers Paulie Malignaggi and Zab Judah in the past but Collazo has warned the 27-year-old he faces a much tougher task on May 3.

"I'm ready, I'm seasoned and this is my time," Collazo told the Sky Sports Toe 2 Toe podcast. "At the end of the day, in that ring, it's just me and him and I know what I want. I know what it takes to be a world champion again.

Maybe the reason Ortiz got knocked out is cause he got too caught up with Dancing with the stars but if Khan gets hit cleanly, he may be dancing and then seeing the stars, lol. But seriously, I give the slight edge to Khan.

Khan for who he thinks he is "a super star of boxiing" has got to then make short work of Collazo. I must admit his result against Diaz does look a little better in the light of how Porter disposed of Paulie but lets not get too carried away , paulies only game plan seemed to be just how low he could keep his hands.
Khan now has got to look great, better than ever and no more excuses if he loses and says the weight didn't suit him, I will cry for listening. I don't think he can beat any of the top welters, Collazo he should but this is Khan!
If he loses this fight I plead with his little army to order him to stop!!!

My take is, a couple of years ago, yes Amir Khan, but Khan's last 3 fights against solid opposition have not gone too well. Collazo has crazy confidence and he has been active, Khan has not fought in about a year? along with his other issues, but Virgil Hunter is a very good trainer and I know he has something up his sleeve. Good Fight ! GBP are putting together by far the best ppv's - this is where Haymon comes in, he knows about building a brand and also showing loyalty to the fans, stack the cards and sell more ppv buys, where the dinosaur approach is have a weak undercard(less $ to pay out) and have a solid headliner - BS, they need to turn these ppv's into superbowls, where people gather at the house around 6pm and are treated to a production that lasts till 11 or 12, shyt imagine if the SuperBowl became just a ppv event $$$$$$$

I had Collazo beating Ricky and I thought he was robbed. Opinions will differ but that's boxing.

As for Khan, he will be knocked out within 4 rounds. No amount of advice will work because he makes too many mistakes which he should have ironed out 5 years ago.
