Good to see Showtime doing a full evening of boxing, starts at 7pm on Showtime Extreme. I wish HBO would start doing stuff like that. Too many times they have ONE match on their show, when there are other good bouts on the card. HBO could learn some things from Showtime if they'd stop being so rigid.

Ward. "The master never fights the student." - Hopkins' own words. Hopkins was wise not to choose it, and he surely wanted the Froch-Kessler 2 winner. So why not Ward-Hopkins? .... I guess you're going to deny that he doesn't weigh risks now. He's earned that position, not sure why anyone wants to deny it at this point.

Hopkins, being as good as he is, deserves credit for making these fools look bad(save for Dawson) but don't pretend like those fights aren't calculated risks either.
        poor excuses.

dawson looked bad in one fight going into the hopkins fight, one. he also had wins over tarver x2, johnson x2, adamek, harding etc..

but one loss (against a fighter whos only losses are to hopkins and froch) and now hes no good at all? your attitude is whats wrong with boxing, its not all about the 0 as long as you fight top guys and dawson fought nothing but top guys. when thats the case you cant look good every time.

as for pascal, he does have his flaws but he also has his strengths. all in all he is a good fighter, one of the very best at 175lbs and when hopkins beat him he was the true champion having beat the undefeated, lineal champion at the weight in dawson.

its not matthew saad muhammad, ezzard charles and michael spinks. but hopkins fought the best guys out there today at 175. there is absolutely no dis*****g that.

the only guys he hasnt fought are kovalev and stevenson, kovalev never fought a top 5 light heavyweight so i dont see how he deserves hopkins. i certainly dont see how fighting him would be better than fighting the likes of pascal and dawson back when hopkins fought them. the only guy you could match hopkins with that he hasnt already fought is stevenson and thats most likely next.

Nothing poor about it. Hopkins took the opportune moments to take on Dawson and Pascal. Though, like Calzaghe, Hopkins came to find out he made a mistake and went on to lose as Dawson wasn't as fragile as he hoped. Dawson called out Hopkins for a while, it wasn't until Chad got exposed against Pascal did Hopkins chose the fight. I'm not sure where you get that after the exposure Dawson was no good, it just showed some big flaws, one being Dawson's mental toughness - something Hopkins thought he could exploit.

I didn't even bring up Kovalev - but since you did I can tell you have some bias going on against him already.. Pretty transparent.

I just don't get it. To hear some of you talk Hopkins is an opportunist for facing Dawson, Pascal, Cloud, Shumenov and even Adonis Stevenson (potentially.)

I guess he should have fought Ismayl Sillakh and Cedric Agnew instead. Then he would be a badass warrior right?

Shumenov is learning how to promote a fight with Hopkins but Hopkins knows that Shumenov is just playing into his gameplan.

You say Adonis sucks so who the hell else do you want him to fight? The only one left is Kovalev and he's tied to HBO.
                    Top names?

Look what happened when he fought someone decent *Dawson*. I know you're going to mention Adonis knocking him out but that Ward drainage took a lot out of him. Been a fan of Dawson for years to see that.

There is 3 other champions besides him, he goes for the guy that is inexperienced and with the style. Now if he was just moving up, I'd understand but he's been at the weight for a while. Lately Murat and them don't cut it. But go on hugging them nuts.

If he beats Shumenov he is very likely going to fight Stevenson next. That means he will have faced 2 of those 3 other champions you mentioned. At almost 50 years old.

                      What more do you want?
