Yeah weight is a serious issue in this fight, and specifically in Fernando's case. Dropping that much weight not only has a drastic effect on his body...but it might have an adverse effect as well.

How will his mobility be affected? will he have the same energy level come fight time? will this put him at an advantage or disadvantage being the bigger man moving down?

I'd have to say Mosley's camp would be watching his weight as well. Mosley's best chance in winning this fight would be to use his mobility and accurate punching.

He is not going to impose his will on Vargas. I'd bet on that.

From a strategic standpoint it's really this simple in my opinion.

If Vargas is in his best shape, he wins the fight. If he is not, and has an off gameplan, Mosley outpunches him via dec.

For some reason I am excited about this fight......I think both are going to look better than they have in their more recent contests or maybe that is just the hope I have.I just have a hard time believing Vargas is truely a shot fighter at his age but he could be.I like vargas to show us he has some good fights left in him but I guess time will tell.

I think Mosley will come in around 151 or 152, and if he does, he will be very sharp. He's stated that he will drop to 147 after this fight, regardless of outcome. And if he beats Vargas, and I think he will in a close decision, I think he will get one last shot at greatness in the Welterweight division. This is going to be a life or death type of fight for both of these guys, so I hope they both perform well.

I am looking forward to this fight, quite a bit. I know, it's importance now vs. 4-5 years ago is almost non-existent.
I don't care, it's still a very intriguing matchup....of styles, & to see who has what left.
                    At their best.....Vargas couldn't touch Mosley, ability-wise.
But now, with their levels having dropped...it becomes a matter of who has more left , & whether or not Vargas will be able to use his natural size to grind Mosley down.

My feeling is.....Vargas is the vulnerable one. Mosley's not what he once was, but he doesn't appear frail. He also isn't as easy to tag with right hands as Vargas has always been.
I see Shane's right hand landing repeatedly on Vargas....& that will be the big difference. Mosley will pour it on in the end, but Vargas makes it to the final bell.
