Comments Thread For: Jorge Linares: I Would Love To Fight Omar Figueroa

On March 8th in Las Vegas, former two-division champion Jorge "El Nino de Oro" Linares won a dominating decision over Nihito Arakawa on the televised pay-per-view undercard of Canelo Alvarez's knockout victory over Alfredo Angulo. Linares was pleased with his performance but felt that he would have done better if he hadn't injured his hand in the fight.

Figueroa needs someone to stand and trade with him I don't think linares would do that. Linares is really skilled and can box and I think that would frustrate figueroa. It would be a good/interesting fight

the only thing id be worried about would be linares face not holding up. two of his three losses have been from stoppages due to cuts on his face. i really wouldn't say he has a glass chin that phrase gets tossed around too much in boxing, he just cuts easily

It's not just the cuts. He has great skills and physical gifts, but he fought mediocre opposition for too long, and got used to getting away with stuff that you can't afford to do against world class fighters. Him vs DeMarco was painful to watch - he more than outclassed DeMarco in every aspect and won every round before the stoppage. It was his ******ity and inexperience that cost him that fight.

That said, he can still be a force if he learns from his mistakes.
