Comments Thread For: Naazim: Marquez Can Beat Pacquiao, Will Judges Agree?

Veteran trainer Naazim Richardson is very confident that Juan Manuel Marquez can still defeat his career rival, Manny Pacquiao, if the two boxers are matched for a fifth time in 2014.

If Marquez defeats Mike Alvarado on May 17th, and Pacquiao gets revenge on WBO champion Timothy Bradley on April 12, the two of them could possibly face each other later in the year.

The last time they met in December 2012, Marquez got the most conclusive win in their four fight series, with a sixth round knockout.

    Real Talk

Let sleeping Pacquiao lie. Marquez is old as hell, especially for the weight class, and they continue to ask for the Pacquiao fight? The powers that be have robbed Marquez enough in that saga, let it be. Marquez had the most definitive win of all the chapters, what's left to prove? Whether Marquez is completely finished to the point where Manny can KO him???? wtf does that do for anybody? The 5th fight would only determine who is physically able rather than more skillful. Still wish he would've retired after the KO. If his team was smart, they would have pushed for the Maidana fight, go out swinging for the 147lb title he rightfully deserves against an engaging, beatable, respectable opponent.

Pacquiao Gave Marquez 4 Fights, Made JMM Very Wealthy; Give Pac ONE Rematch!

Don't let anything but fear get in the way of Marquez extending one rematch to Manny.

if marquez gets past alvarado, hes still got something left. nobody ever doubted he had what it takes to beat pacquiao, hes proved that. he would increase his legacy if he got another win over manny. the PAC-JMM 5 would be the 2nd biggest fight in boxing, this would be for all the marbles, and definitely the final chapter. they both officially now have wins over each other, a true grudge match now

marquez hasn't even won and yet people are expecting another pacquiao-marquez rematch. for all we know, alvarado beats the old timer and then what next? he should fight provodnikov or retire. the 140 belt he got from WBO was a hand me down and didn't even have to fight for it.

Yeah, he should've retired. Perfect career ender. they wanted a belt at 147 and felt that Bradley was ripe for the picking after Provo so that fight made more sense than Maidana and much easier to make. Easy 4th title before retiring, seemingly. The problem was, Bradley was a bad stylistic matchup for him and came prepared. I don't think that Marquez's pride will let him retire until he wins that 4th title and exacts revenge on Bradley. He'd rather not risk another PAC fight but if manny wins on 4/12, he'll have to if he wants the title.

                  Naazim Richardson is a Flomo

But it's true HBO rides Pac so hard that they scream when Pac throws punches even though they don't land just like the Bradley fight

Marquez should have retired after the 4th Pacquiao fight.
