    Former three division world champion Abner Mares (26-1, 14KOs) is not positive if he'll accept a potential fight with WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura (27-2-2, 20KOs) of Japan. The match is being negotiated for the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana Showtime Pay-Per-View card on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

        Mares should rematch Gonzalez first
        he got caught and taken out in the 1st rd
        that's a decisive loss but not a conclusive one
        still give him a chance of beating Gonzalez if they fight again
        he should go for that fight first before he moves up again
        he might settle the score or just learn it's the wrong style for him
        either way, the move up can wait until afterward

                It's weird how Mares' interim bout before the Gonzalez rematch could be a title fight one division north against a solid champion. I don't really see the Gonzalez rematch in his future if he takes this fight.
