Comments Thread For: Schaefer: It's Getting Hard To Find Foes For Keith Thurman

Although Golden Boy Promotions has the bulk of the welterweight division in their stable, the company CEO, Richard Schaefer, tells BoxingScene.com that his matchmakers are having trouble finding suitable opponents who want to WBA interim-champion Keith "One Time" Thurman (22-0, 22KOs).

Last year, the Golden Boy matchmakers were unable to get Thurman in the ring with Robert Guerrero, Marcos Maidana, Paulie Malignaggi and several others. Some fighters price themselves out and others have no interest in facing him.

100 percent KO !! i didnt know he had that no wonder why we cant find this dude an opponent lol. So i know guerrero and maidana denied him, but i always thought paulie was up for it if he "proved" himself. dont know what that means in this case

I have been noticing the same thing over the past couple of months. Everybody in the boxing world recognizes Golovkin as the most avoided fighter of all time BUT Thurman is being avoided badly as well.

Thurman has power but is also a damn good boxer who can adjust and has a high ring IQ. He is the complete package. If Mayweather dared to fight him, I'd go all in on Thurman.

how about Khan the guy you keep telling us could beat Floyd but hasn't actually beat anyone decent since 2011. Maybe that blistering hand speed of his could give Thurman all kinds of trouble but yh Schaefer we all know you will protect Khan until his Mayweather opportunity comes along.

If Thurman keeps improving he will become GBP's next star. The sky is the limit for him.

that's not accurate. while Thurman is undefeated, he doesn't have all his wins by KO ... 20

I wonder what's next up for Keith. Any potential names thrown out?

                Porter perhaps?

**it's been rumored that Thurman/Matthysse were rumored to return on April 26th, but imo Thurman should shoot for May 3rd to get himself on a bigger stage

Thurman vs Collazo make it happen!

If any of these guys really believe in their skill I don't think they should be scared of Thurman like that he's got good power but I think a slick fighter would give him something to think about.
