LONDON - Canelo Alvarez is using the story of ‘The Greatest’ Muhammad Ali to help inspire him to make his own boxing history starting this weekend.

The cinnamon haired superstar will be going toe-to-toe with countryman Alfredo Angulo as they lay their Mexican machismo on the line in front of a packed crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this weekend.

It is a significant fight for both men, particularly the 23-year-old Canelo, who will be under close scrutiny to see what effect his first defeat last September against pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather has had on him.

Well we are about to see how well he takes a punch from a bigger man...this is a 50/50 fight lots of room for tons of shocking moments on both sides. If this fight goes as well as it reads on paper this is going to be worth every cent and probably be the only ppv in recent memory to live up to its cost.

The biggest boxers in history have had losses but what Canelo fails to recognize is the level of competition they were fighting. Ali fought several hall of famers. So far Canelo has fought 1 and lost. And news flash Angulo is not a hall of famer, so he's a long way from making "boxing history"

I thought Canelo already made history. Wasn't he the first boxer ever to go 12 rounds without landing a single punch?

Canelo is such a hypejob. Can't respect a fighter that his belt was a gift.
Fed fighters in lower classes since he has the belt and when stepped up was embarrassed .Boxing is a business if hypejob canelo was my fighter I would pay extra to angulo to take a L and keep the money coming in with fights with now washed up big name cotto (to hype him even more). One thing that really pisses me off is when a few casuals tell me "ohh Canelo is like 42-1, hes one of the best ". This bum beat a 147 pound fighter going up in weight for his first belt and in his resume the only victory I give him credit for is Trout even though I think Canelo was GIVEN rounds in the second half of the fight without punching.
