  • Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Backs Stablemate Angulo To Shock Canelo

LONDON - Amir Khan has backed stablemate Alfredo Angulo to upset the odds when he clashes with fellow Mexican star Canelo Alvarez this weekend.

The pair will meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, in front of what is expected to be a sold out arena, with Canelo being tipped as the favourite in the fight which will be broadcast live and exclusive on BoxNation.

Khan, who has trained with Angulo ever since the pair joined forces with esteemed trainer Virgil Hunter back in 2012, has rallied behind his light-middleweight companion and backed him to produce the goods this Saturday night.

Would it really be a shock?

I know it says 'shock' Canelo, but it got me thinking whether this would be an upset or not.

Good point because it will be more of a "reality check" than "upset" for Canelo and his fans that hes a pampered kid.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens, since we've never seen Canelo tested all 12 rounds by a guy who is bigger than him or the same size.

I agree with khan in some aspect Canelo will be in the fight of his life he might have had a tough time with Floyd but this guy hits hard I see this getting to be one tough night for the both of them aside from mayweather this will be canelo's toughest opponent with real power he's never fought anyone this strong Canelo should win if he uses his boxing skills but if tries to brawl with el perro he'll come up with loss no.2

What you guys are failing to realize as just as much as it's Canelo's "toughest" opponent, it is also Angulo's toughest opponent. Canelo can **** in the pocket, he ain't no pot shot artist. You guys give him 0 credit. After Sarurday you will..

                sucks

I like both fighters.. I don't really give much credit to canelo for the mayweather performance.. but I think he's got skills.. on the other hand El Perro has earned my respect, just cause he's in entertaining fights vs tough opposition.. I just think he was able to get on the inside of slick Lara.. he'll be able to see what this kid's chin is all about.. regardless, I don't know if anyone else has that feeling that as long as Canelo ends up on his feet, Vegas will get him the nod.. since vegas in search for the next cash cow... since Mayweather is getting up there in age and refusing tough, exciting opposition.. yes I said it! quote me if you want!

Angulo winning wouldn't surprise me. Canelo winning wouldn't surprise me either. This is a pick em fight IMO.
