Former world champion Erik "El Terrible" Morales has confirmed that he is unable to go forward with a planned welterweight fight on March 22 against Jorge'Maromerito' Paez, which was scheduled to be the main event of a Zanfer Promotions card at the Arena Monterrey in Mexico.

Morales suffered a hand injury during camp. The Tijuana idol went to a doctor, who examined the injury and refused to grant him permission to move forward with the Paez contest. It would have been Morales' first fight in 17 months, after getting knocked out in October 2012 against Danny Garcia in New York.

Glad this fight got cancelled,,, I like morales, and would still watch him fight, but not vs young guys,,
Morales needs to be on the senior boxing circuit and fight guys like Castillo, judah, pauli, maybe jmm

Morales clearly didn't anticipate his career getting to this sad point when he thought of the nickname "El Terrible". Glad this got called off. Hope he recovers and stays healthy though.

The rumor in Mexico is that Morales is suffering from terrible headaches and may not continue fighting despite that he needs a buck. If this is true, maybe is time to say bye bye

This guy is just going to get steamrolled... time to go away. We don't need a send off farewell fight. ESPN Classic can just roll back your fights with Pacquioa and Barerra and that's good enough for us all. You're going to get severely hurt in the ring with anyone other than a tomato can, and nobody needs to see that play out.
