Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Maidana, Garcia, Ariza Hungry For Mayweather

From top to bottom, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer says the entire team behind Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31KOs) is very hungry to knock off Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26KOs) on May 3rd.

Maidana has been riding a hot streak of wins since hiring veteran trainer Robert Garcia, and recently adding strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza. Maidana's streak was accelerated with a dominating twelve round decision win over previously undefeated Adrien Broner to capture the WBA welterweight title last December in San Antonio.

Fuggit. I condone all the PEDs Ariza gives to Maidana for this fight.

I wonder if he will get them "Special Shakes"? Then again he will be submitting to random blood tests so I doubt that.

Ortiz was putting guys down left and right as well before he fought Floyd, including Maidana 2 or 3x. Maidana has a puncher's chance but Floyd has been fighting bigger dudes weighing 160+ for a couple years now so he's used to the physicality unlike Broner

and to say Maidana didn't get tired in the Broner fight is just

So they're admitting Maidana has a punchers chance? Meh I'll pass on this one...

This is the only thing Richard has be truthful about all day.

Hopefully Garcia comes up with a good game plan for Floyd, not "throw more jabs" "throw more punches"

Schaefer needs to get a grip on his bull**** - "What we do know is what happened to every single other guy who fought Maidana and got hit - they went down." That'll certainly be news to Kotelnik, Morales, Alexander and even Amir Khan who got nailed real good but stayed upright throughout.
