  • Comments Thread For: Lundy Looking To Show Santana Not In His Class

Hank Lundy is certain he has fought many better boxers than Angelo Santana.

Entering their 10-round lightweight fight Friday night at Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Lundy just can’t envision losing to an opponent the confident Philadelphia fighter considers one-dimensional. Showtime will air the Lundy-Santana clash as the main event of a “ShoBox: The New Generation” telecast.

Tough out for Santana. Angelo looked frustrated and fatigued in his last bout. He'll need to be on-point for Lundy, or his career will be over before it started.

I hope the kid has his head straight going into this one. Lundy is a hell of a boxer at least compared to Santana. Not saying Angelo is a horrible boxer but in my head he is still in that break-through stage from prospect to contender. Let's see what happens.

I re-watched Santana-Mamadjanov earlier today. I didn't like what I saw. It was even worse than I remembered. Baha appears to be a little underrated; he's a tricky fighter with heart. Angelo was very frustrated from early on. He knocked Mamadjanov on his butt in the second round with a hard jab, but that was it for Santana. Baha took over from there. Angelo was looking for the big shot for the rest of the fight, never finding it.

"La Cobra" appeared unconditioned. (I read later that Santana lost 38 lbs in six weeks, and had suffered knee and back injuries.) Whatever the case, Angelo has his work cut-out for him tonight. He'd better bring it. His career depends on it.

BTW, it's Cuba versus Kazakhstan in the WBC tomorrow in Havana. I believe the start time is 3:00 PM, but I'm not certain. They post that "GMT" time on their website. It's supposed to be five hours ahead of EST.

Haven't a re-watched it but from what I remember live, it wasn't pretty. I didn't know about the weight and injuries. It's bad enough fighters get thrown into obscurity when they're somewhat popular but when you lose this early and you happen to be Cuban it's bad news, ask Yan. Vamo' ver lo que pasa

Thanks for the update, I'll most likely be tuned in for WSB.

the card starts in a few minutes, correct? do any of you guys know how many fights are being televised before the main event?

since i've known about this fight, i haven't liked the idea of santana being put in against a rather experienced fighter like lundy in his next fight after tasting his first loss. hopefully he's able to pull off the upset (at least in my eyes). he and his team should've looked into taking a couple light fights before looking for a name. it is what it is now, vamos cobra.

Yes, it's scheduled to start 10:45 eastern time on Showbox. Let's see if la cobra pulls it off.

Edit- Imam v Robinson undercard first.
