British welterweight contender Lee Purdy (20-5-1, 13KOs) says his career is now in doubt after suffering a detached retina, according to The Daily Gazette. The 26-year-old boxer had a very bruising 2013. He took a beating in a seven round TKO defeat to then IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander in May, and then he was knocked out in the twelfth round of his fight with EBU champion Leonard Bundu in December.
