Howard Eastman: "I'm Going To Beat Hopkins"

BoxingScene was in attendance for the Bernard Hopkins-Howard Eastman press conference in Los Angeles and got a chance to speak with Eastman regarding his upcoming fight with undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins. We also touched on the William Joppy fight from a few years back and Eastman's views regarding Hopkins not being the best pound for pound fighter in the world. [details]

I am praying that Eastman does it, I have known him since he was 11 years both went to the same boxing gym. He is on a mental edge with Hopkins, but I think Hopkins is just a bit too smart for him. But if he can make Hopkins fight at a frighting pace he could outlast him as Hopkins really belives he is a legend which I think not beating up a couple of great welterweights does not make u a legend it is the fights u participate in ie exciting, drama, on the brink of defeat, he has done nothing whatsoever. I hope Hopkins get a beating for 12 rounds (eastman won't stop him) but he must remember we he came from Battersea is just as bad as Philly. Trust me been to both

One thing is Hopkins will not be able to hurt Eastman. Ive never ever seen him hurt in a fight and ive seen him take some big time shots. 40 Year olds can be hurt and Howard might be the guy to do it. Go to the body relentlessly. Tire that old guy out.

much as id love Howard to beat Nard, I cant see it. (Nard is my fave fighter at present but I back the brits when it comes to it).
Howard has a tendancy to want to fight at his own pace and Nard wont let him do that. I agree with whomever said go to the body, but Howard is going to have to up his work rate tremendously to the likes we havent seen him do before. No showboating do the biznizz.

One thing Nard wont be able to do to Howard is bully him in the ring, Howard will have the physical advantages going in, he is a monster at middle, more a super middle these days to be honest. If howard can lean hard on Nard in the clinches and use his superior size then it may get interesting later in the fight.

Both men have fantastic whiskers (no pun intended) in fact two of the best chins in boxing today, so expect a decision verdict, for my money Nard just has too mucb nouse and too much gas and workate and take sa wide UD.

Id be delighted to be proved wrong though.
              GOOD LUCK HOWARD
