Gamboa has been inactive since leaving his old promoter, Top Rank, and signing a new deal with rapper 50 Cent, who runs SMS Promotions.
Gamboa partially blames his inactivity on his old promoter, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum. The Cuban fighter claims that Arum roadblocked him attempts to get back on the network.

In this case, there was a major Press and TV spectacular arranged in Miami AT GAMBOA'S SPECIAL REQUEST, and he didn't show up, saying later, that as he had not actually signed the contract he wasn't obligated.
Top Rank had already spent over a million dollars in promoting the fight, which documentation they presented in court. Gamboa was/is a fool, listening to Mayweather's whispering into his ear to leave Top Rank.
When the "chips" were down, Mayweather also reneged on his obligation to his long-time buddy-buddy Curtis Jackson with whom he was starting a boxing promotion company. He didn't put in his $2 mill share, and after the company had bought out Gamboa's contract for $1.25 mill an signed several other fighters, (using Jackson's money) he scrammed, leaving his good friend Jackson in a mess. To his credit, Jackson, did the best he could, and continued with the promotion company, taking over all the fighters already signed. Jackson's relationship with Top Rank is very good.
It also shows that Arum does not hold business grudges...regardless of what that dumbo Gamboa is saying, because if Arum didn't want this fight it wouldn't be held. From what he has shown mentally until now, I think he'll likely end badly.

Mikey is going to drop Gamboa. Who has Gamboa beating? He has been hurt by lesser opposition. Salido dropped him and took him the distance and look what Mikey did to Salido. It wasn't even a fight. Mikey by KO or wide UD

Now, its a fight that's probably gonna be pushed aside so that JMM can be overpaid for a tune-up. The fact that folks still defend Arum is comical on so many levels.

Gamboa is way too vulnerable for someone like Mickey. I seem him getting pressured and countered hard. Gamboa can hit the canvas on a moments notice (something I've noticed from Cuban fighters) and I believe Garcia has the strength to put him there often. OAN why talk bad about Arum when you are begging one of his fighters to get in the ring?

Now it is your turn to prove this is true by staying active and performing at the level you did back in 2008. This Garcia is a perfect chance for Gamboa to make a statement and back up his claims. IF he is ready to act on it, the Garcia bout will be a VERY interesting one to watch.
