Comments Thread For: Diego Chaves Hopes To Face Keith Thurman in Rematch

Diego Cháves was largely untested before his thrilling bout with Keith Thurman last year but the manner of his performance left American fight fans wanting to see more of him, despite the defeat.

Due to injuries and recuperation time, Cháves is only now returning to action back in his native Argentina where he will face countryman Juan Alberto Godoy for the IBF Latino welterweight title this Saturday. Perhaps more importantly, it is a chance for Cháves to regain some confidence and prepare for a new assault at the welterweight division’s top dogs.

He made a great account for himself and proved he's the real deal. It's just too bad there has to be a loser, and it was him. I think he offers a lot to the division, would like to see a rematch. His counter hook was catching keith every time, they were throwing big ones.

Problem was, Keith was able to change gears and Chaves wasn't.

Danny Garcias debut at Welterweight would be amazing if he fought Chaves that being said Chaves needs some recognition so he needs a fight ASAP!

Waste of time for Thurman. He needs to keep moving forward, not a step back. Thurman should be aiming for a Mayweather showdown and pick his next opponent with that in mind. Go after the big / recognizable names.

He looked decent but dissapointed at the end of the Thurman fight when he quit. Watch the replay when them combo's are flying from thurman - chaves see the last punch coming, ducks and decides to stay down.

Chaves is a very strong Welterweight and his technique is solid. Thurman had to put his intangibles on display to win the fight against him. Not sure about a rematch, but if Diego gets a shot at one of the top Welterweights, he will have a great chance at causing an upset.
