Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is looking forward to a long business relationship with Puerto Rico Best Boxing, run by brothers Peter and Ivan Rivera.

For years, PRBBP has staged events, on a near exclusive level (in terms of American promoters), with Golden Boy's main competitor, Las Vegas based Top Rank.

On March 15th, Golden Boy and PRBBP will come together for the first time, when they stage a Showtime televised tripleheader from the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum from Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

They better because the hunt just started for the next wave of PR superstars and Best Boxing runs things in the island. GB will definitely have the upper hand in getting a first look and connection with up and coming prospects.

Why does Shaefer feels the need to mention Top Rank in every interview he does? Golden Boy only claim to PPV events are with Floyd! When he's long gone, they will have nothing on the PPV level! Canelo is not going to be a huge PPV fighter! Broner, Garcia, Mares, etc. are good fighters but not be PPV worthy! Shaefer needs to calm down because Floyd will be gone soon! Regardless of what you feel about Arum, he will not be eliminated by no other promoter! He has been in this game for a long time!

I think it's necessary for him to mention them, considering Puerto Rico Best never did a show with his company in the past because they were working exclusively with Top Rank.

Puerto Rico has prospects, but they need stars to rise out of those prospects or at least champions. Its a down period for them but they will get some upswings before long. They are an international treasure to Boxing.
