Comments Thread For: Bellew: Cleverly's Advantages Will Be Gone at Cruiser

Liverpool's Tony Bellew has told Sky Sports News that he has already started to reap the benefits of his switch to cruiserweight despite being over a month away from his first bout at the weight. Bellew challenged for the WBO and WBC titles at 175lbs, a decision defeat to Nathan Cleverly and sixth-round TKO loss to Adonis Stevenson respectively, and he is confident that he will beat Russia's former world title challenger Valery Brudov, 41-4 (28), at his home city's Echo Arena venue on March 15th.

If what Bellew says is true, then what about himself??

Clev should just eat and train to be the most optimal version of himself.

Cleverly didn't have the power at 175 he's gunna be a featherfist at cruiser and if he fights the same way he always does against bigger men he will have a hard time.

Clev had a run of KO's when he moved to 175 from 168. It's possible he could be reignited at cruiser, though I agree the likes of Huck would be too much for him.

The ideal for Clev would be a 190 division.

Bellews punditry for the pascal bute fight was beyond awful and for that reason, I'll like to see him get KTFO vs cleverly.

Bellew was a heavyweight as an amateur, every weigh-in I've seen him of his he looks drained to shit. I don't know how detrimental getting down to 175 is for Bellew but it sure effects him a lot more than Cleverly.

                what advantage were those, exactly?

the ref won't carry his barely conscious body back to the corner between rounds?

crusher kovalev took that dude's soul. he is all done.

cleverly is an educated guy. he's got a degree in some sort of maths, i'm led to believe. he should think about a day job.

i've only seen pictures, but bellew had a chubby face at HW. that said, he is tall as hell, and could probably benefit from moving up.

with these crappy british fighters, you ahve to take into account how badly they suck when trying to discern why they got knocked out when they finally fight real men.

                  weight drained?
crusher kovalev and pimp steve knock those two bums out at HW.

Who the hell cares. Bellew is such a loser. Hoped he would disappear for good after the Stevenson fight.
