  • Comments Thread For: Groves Shocked With Froch Statement Over Rematch

George Groves is still desperate for a rematch against Carl Froch despite turning down "unsatisfactory" terms from the WBA and IBF super-middleweight champion's team.

Froch claimed on Friday that British rival Groves rejected "a seven-figure sum" worth twice as much as his purse for their controversial fight in November.

Groves admits he has turned down an offer to avenge that ninth-round defeat but is adamant he is as eager as ever to get back into the ring with his 36-year-old conqueror.

So has he left Eddie Hearn then? The way he speaks sounds like it.

I can't say who's right here, but Groves would be a moron to price himself out.

If im not mistaken, the Froch fight was the last on his contract. Hearn has openly said he is not with him no more, although he would be open to resigning him, but that is up to Groves. Rumours have it that DiBella and Top Rank want him.

IBF agreeing it was a unsatisfactory end to the fight and trying to force a rematch is bigger news than one measely last line.

Be interesting to know what these conditions were. Rematches, could be some real crappy stuff for all we know. IBF instating Groves as mandatory again means he'd get 25% of split.

According to Hearn, Groves will only get 15% of the split because he isn't ranked within the Top 2 by the IBF. Apparently only fighters ranked 1st or 2nd are entitled to 25% of the split, lower ranked fighters are entitled to 15%.

Been a big froch fan for years but this whole situation has got out of hand and he's ended up looking a plonker

On the overhand if I was groves I would be all over it , the biggest payday of his career and a fight he can win.

The fight needs to happen either way

I wouldn't mind froch chevez jr first but it has to happen

Maybe Groves is getting too big for his boots.

                  So there's this

                  LiveFight.com ‏@LiveFight 1m
Hearn reveals Groves offered 25/75 split, and the IBF ruling means the challenger will now only get 15/85 instead, so is a backward step.
