Comments Thread For: Roy Jones: Jean Pascal Should Rematch Carl Froch Next

Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. has been working very closely as of late with former WBC light heavyweight king Jean Pascal. Jones helped Pascal tremendously for his recent dominating win over Canadian rival Lucian Bute.

If Jones had a choice, he would love to see Pascal (29-2-1, 17KOs) move his career forward with a rematch against IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (32-2, 23KOs).

Roy's a smart guy. Pascal would make a lot of money fighting Froch and Froch looked very vulnerable in his last fight. I'm sure Roy thinks Pascal would be able to take him now. Problem is Froch would still beat Pascal even if he has fallen off some. I doubt the fight happens though. Froch doesn't sound too keen on moving to 175. Pascal should be looking to fight Adonis or Kovalev.

Pascal was very green when he lost against Froch.

Froch always said he would give him the rematch

Let's see if he's man enough to keep his word.

Maybe they can meet in the middle (170-172lbs). Pascal has to fix his stamina issues though or he's in big trouble. You can't fight Froch in spurts.

Both were green, it was the first step up to world class for both of them.

The obvious fights would be Kovalev and Stevenson but yet nobody wants to talk about them. You hear Pascal talking about a Bute rematch immediately after that borefest in an attempt to steal more easy money.
Also, this shows Jones psyche and explains a lot of his cherry picking during his career.

So for Jones to mention Carl Froch, the guy who beat Pascal as a possible opponent, that's somehow cherry picking? Choosing the second best supermiddle weight in the game, who owns a win over your fighter is cherry picking? It's not like Roy said he should fight Diaconu for a third time, he mentioned a guy who defeated Pascal. The obvious fight would be Kovalev vs Stevenson, which places Pascal on the back burner, so why not look for bigger fights that don't involve those two names? Froch vs Pascal would certainly be bigger than Pascal vs Stevenson or Kovalev.

Not so sure about that. Pascal is awkward and athletic enough to present plenty of problems for an aging Froch. No matter what happens in his career, Froch will forever be overrated by his fans.

I said it explains Roy Jones' cherry picking, not pascal. I don't like guys calling fighters out from other divisions (esp with Froch looking like ****), when there are clear challenges at their own weight. And it's clear they don't want nothing to do with them guys. You heard it from Pascal in the interview when Adonis was mentioned, he didn't want to hear about it, but instead talk about a rematch with Bute. And with Kovalev they're acting like he don't even exist. Those guys are the clear top 2 so why not try fight them.
