Comments Thread For: Jean Pascal: Bute Has The Weight Advantage, Not Me

Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17KOs) disagrees with the experts who state the boxer has a weight advantage over Lucian Bute (31-1, 24KOs).

Bute moves up in weight, to 175-pounds, to face Pascal in a huge all-Canadian showdown at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Pascal has been at the weight since 2009 and held the WBC title. Bute has spent the majority of his career at 168-pounds, where he held the IBF championship. [Click Here To Read More]

lol first Pascal says Bute is taller than him so he can carry more weight, then he says Pascal doesn't have to lose as much weight and therefore fight with more energy...which goes back to implying that Pascal is bigger...Anyone else confused?

Maybe hes already looking for excuses if he loses. I think he beats Bute though.

I got confused too. I think he means as opposed to fighting at 168 like he usually does, though. He doesn't have to cut to make weight (anymore) since he's at 175 this fight, and not 168. So he will have more energy.

But it does contradict his first statement about him carrying more water, but not entirely. Carrying more water means easy cut. Pascal carries more "mass", harder cut. I don't think he was implying that Bute weighs more, just that Bute will have an easiar time with the weight.
