Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia, Burgos Honored To Return To MSG

When does it make sense for two fighters of Mexican heritage primarily based on the West Coast to fight in an East Coast venue?

The answer: it doesn’t have to make sense when the venue is Madison Square Garden.

Mikey Garcia returns to MSG Theatre on January 25, just over one year since his featherweight title-winning effort over Orlando Salido. The unbeaten Californian hits New York City as a 130 lb. titlist, defending his crown versus Juan Carlos Burgos in their scheduled 12-round main event, which airs live on HBO.

It's crazy that Mikey Garcia is a Southern California based fighter and he's only fought in Sur Califas 5 times early in his career at small venues, in Anaheim at the Honda Center in 2010, and in Los Angeles at Staples Center in 2011. Never as the main event though.

The only fight I've been to of Mikey's was in L.A. at Staples Center in 2011 on the undercard of Chavez Jr. vs. Zbik.

Anyways, Garcia vs. Burgos should be a good fight. I wish it was in Los Angeles.

That would be cool but i would prefer him fighting at the cb bank arena in ontario ca...its closer to where i live..anyways i see this fight as the modern day morales vs barrera 1 fight,it will be a give and take fight, and hopefully mikey can pull it off...
