    A deal is very close for Cristian Mijares to face current WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (26-0-1, 15KOs) on March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight would be part of the Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Alfredo Angulo Showtime Pay-Per-View.

    Mijares (49-7-2, 24), a two division champion, is the mandatory challenger to the title. After what some felt was a controversial decision loss to Victor Terrazas in April 2013, the WBC ordered a rematch. It never happened after Santa Cruz easily stopped Terrazas to the title.       Leo is a beast! Where the **** is Gary Russell Jr.? I would love to see Russell Jr. vs. Santa Cruz or Mares in 2014!

          Suffer from the boredom of having to beat him up. Mijares had his time but that was at super flyweight.

              I think Mijares will give him a tough fight. He's a wily veteran and Santa Cruz doesn't seem like much of a thinker in there, his response to any boxing puzzle is just to throw more punches.

                      Cosider Mijares is past his prime i was shocked how tough and great shape was in his last fights(Vikingo lost clear with him),i give him good chances to upset Leo Santa Cruz who is a great chmpion indeed!!!

                          Leos team should make every effort to prepare for mijares accordingly, this will not be easy.

                              Santa will "cruise" through this one. Besides the lame pun Mijares does have the capability to make it a war, but really its suppose to and will be an another "win" for Santa.
