Comments Thread For: Brian Magee Reveals Comeback, Plans Summer Return

Former EBU/IBO champion Brian Magee (36-5-1, 25KOs) is planning to continue his career in 2014. Magee appeared to call it a day in December 2012, when Mikkel Kessler knocked him out in three rounds in Herning, Denmark. Magee plans to make comeback in the summer. Since 2006, Magee only lost three fights - to Carl Froch, Lucian Bute and Kessler. [Click Here To Read More]

these fighters are warriors that are trying to provide for their families. brian magee is 38 and is coming off a 3 year layoff.

there needs to be a body set up by the various boxing commissions that provides expert financial advice to fighters. for example, a fighter gets $100,000 for a fight after his promotional company takes their cut. the fighter should be guided on how to pay his taxes, pay the people on his team, how much money to set aside in an account earning interest and the list goes on. all this should be verified between the fighter putting his life on the line for his loved ones and experts.

the sanctioning bodies fees are high. why cant the promoters, networks and sanctioning bodies come up with a deal whereby money is set aside to set up an independent body to help the fighters? its because no-one cares. its the way the world is.

I agree with the sentiment but he was beaten in December 2012. That's a 13 month lay off not 3 years.
