  • Comments Thread For: Tony Bellew Makes Cruiserweight Debut on March 15th

Matchroom Sport have revealed that Tony Bellew (20-2-1, 12 KO's) will be making his cruiserweight debut on March 15th at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Details of the Echo Arena show will be announced next week. Bellew was last seen in November, when he took a six round pounding from WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson. Afterwards, Bellew disclosed that he struggled to make the weight and announced that he was going to move up, by 25-pounds, to continue his career in the cruiserweight division.

Was Bellew really a big puncher in the amateur ranks? I haven't followed the guy.

Bellew is another fellow I respect very much cuz he wants to fight anyone anywhere. Ofcourse Stevenson is my boy but I do respect Bellew's courage to "step up".

Cleverly vs Bellew (inevitable) should be a good fight and the winner should fight basically any of the champs cuz its a damn good division but always underrated

Rematch should be interesting. I'd favor Bellew to win.

              I dunno but...

Bellew, 23, who fought out of the world famous Rotunda ABC as an amateur, didn't start boxing until he was 17 having previously represented Great Britain at kick boxing.

Of 47 amateur fights, he won 40, 32 inside the distance, and earned the nickname "The Bomber" because of his dynamite punching power.

I think he fought at HW at amateur level?

Tony You are a very good fighter and I respect you. With that being said I would be more than happy to be your first Cruiserweight opponent my man. This weight division ain't no joke and why wait to start testing yourself. Les go . @bjfloresboxer.
