Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez Eyes March Return in Japan

Roman Gonzalez (37-0, 31KOs) is reportedly going to return on a March date in Japan. Teiken Promotions, who co-promote Gonzalez tried to make a fight between him and WBC flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi of Japan. The talks failed when Yaegashi rejected the idea of facing Gonzalez. They also tried to get Juan Carlos Reveco, but he already has a return date set for February. Gonzalez fought three times in 2013 and scored knockout victories in all three contests.

Disappointed in Yaegashi. Estrada is always an option at flyweight. I've been waiting on that rematch anyway.

Goddamn this man is avoided. I remember when they were talking to Segura in the ring and asking him if he'd fight Roman and he said if the money is right and that Roman had to keep winning.... how that work for you Segura. Hopefully he fights him again this year after Estrada whoops Segura.... would love if they had a rematch too

Forget quality of opponents, if you ask me who I think are the top ten best p4p fighters in the world right now, like just who I suspect are whether they fought a really great fighter or not, whether it's proven or not, whoever I suspect are the ten best, I say Gonzalez is top ten material. The way this guy punches is close to JMM. If that's not a compliment I don't know what is. I'd kill to see him face Segura on Showtime or HBO in a main event. It would awesome. He's like everything a lot of fans wanted Matthysse to be, to me.
