Comments Thread For: Provodnikov's Manager: If No Marquez, Pacquiao is Likely

Vadim Kornilov, manager of WBO junior welterweight world champion Ruslan Provodnikov, says Juan Manuel Marquez is still their first option for 2014. But if they can't reach an agreement with Marquez, then a fight with Manny Pacquiao is very likely for April 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

While initially against the fight, Provodnikov (23-2, 16KOs) changed his mind about facing Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38KOs). Initially he rejected the opportunity, because the two boxers are friendly, have sparred several times in the past and are both trained by Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach. Provodnikov will be forced to hire a new trainer if a Pacquiao deal is made. [Click Here To Read More]

    It won't be Marquez.

If Bradley almost dropped his ass imagine what Rustland will do to him.

Damn. That fight will sell less than rios. In b4 PAC fans explain how all the sudden ppvs don't matter lol. But interesting if it happens. PAC is way better but ruslan can def hurt him and won't be as much of a punching bag as rios

How many people do we need to hear this from? Let's ask Ruslan's mother what she thinks is going to happen.

Provodnikov is an even more obscure name than Rios, and would likely sell less. Hell, just look at the name. Ruslan has the opportunity right now to really build himself a name, and Pacquiao right now frankly shouldn't be fighting no-name hard-hitting Russian dudes with little-to-nothing to lose. This is likely the same reason Marquez won't take the Provodnikov fight.

With that said, stylistically of course Ruslan is made for Manny.

I do think this is a more stern test in regard to what Manny has left. Rios is tough but his skills are lacking, Ruslan is not making anyone forget Willy Pep with his defense but he is a pretty darn good inside fighter offensively and he is pretty good at getting to his place without taking 10 to get 2 or 3 (he might get hit 2 or 3 to get 2 or 3 in though).

If Manny had plenty left in the tank he should win though because he will end up making Ruslan take 5 or 6 to get his 2 but I don't know if Manny can hold that up for a whole fight.

That is in intriguing fight, I don't think it is the greatest fight in the world but it certainly should be fun and interesting.

I'm glad that Provo now see's the opportunity at his feet and is excepting of a PAC fight . That said I'd rather see him finish off rios . As far as Marquez goes , as good of a counter puncher he is I still think he wants no part of a Provo fight because of provo's strength , will to win , and the age of Marquez ..

You are so right . This recycling of the same 4 fighters is seriously a joke . I'm not paying for this crap and suggest everyone do the same . In this age of technology we have more power than ever with streaming and u tube , which I took full advantage of with PAC/Rios . I will say that the Cold War has given us decent match ups on showtime and hbo ,but for 70 bucks these guys gotta do better. I don't mind paying but I'm not gonna feel like arum or whoever is ripping me off and pulling a fast one , not happening . Make PAC get in the ring with two guys if that's what it takes to make a new fight good .

JMM doesn't have the ballz to make that fight happen.
