  • Comments Thread For: Kiko Martinez: I Want Quigg, Frampton Must Wait

A world champion in Spain is usually treated as newsworthy nationwide which garners front page headlines in the major sports newspapers such as MARCA and AS in addition to El País and El Mundo. However, in a country dominated by soccer coverage, boxing is relegated to merely a side note, if that.

That does not deter Kiko Martínez from continuing his ascent in the super bantamweight division. The Spaniard, disappointed with no television coverage for the first defence of his IBF world title last Saturday night, returned to his homeland after a series of fights abroad which saw him visit Northern Ireland, Argentina and The United States.

....Sure plus why would you want to fight a guy who knocked you out?

Frampton would beat Quigg and Martinez (again) fairly handily.

It probably just means Eddie Hearn has come with a bigger offer.

True plus he probably feels its a more winnable fight. Quigg has been on the floor a couple of times if I remember correctly.

Well, who does Frampton fight now? Rigondeaux? He's also a champion and Frampton wanted to fight Kiko, who is also a champion.

No chance of that happening. Leo Santa Cruz said he wanted to fight Frampton so that looks like the obvious option.

He should eventually fight Frampton, but it's not like Quigg is a cupcake fight, like Murray fighting a nobody to avoid Golovkin or something. Plus Quigg will undoubtedly get to fight at home since nobody gives a ****e about Martinez in Spain.

Because KIKO had the balls to fight for a world title before the man beat him;now FRAMPTON is showing courage only because he beat KIKO in the past,RIDICOLOUS. Where was CARL after have beat KIKO??? QUIGG fought for titles too. KIKO vs QUIGG is more honest than KIKO vs FRAMPTON. CARL FRAMPTON was afraid to fight for a world title before KIKO step up on the throne....,this to me means fear to lose!!!
He wants to fight for a world title because he beat the champion in the past,if he has balls he has to fight another world champion(Leo Santa Cruz for example) to show us that his cofidence is not coming from a winnable fight.

Are you dumb or just ignorant? Kiko was cherry picked as an easy opponent by Jonathan Romero. He caused the upset and got a world title.
