Comments Thread For: Ryabinsky: Offered 800K, King Stalling on Lebedev-Jones

Russian businessman Andrey Ryabinsky, representing WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebdev, is shocked that he hasn't been able to close a deal for the rematch with Guillermo Jones, after offering $800,000 to Jones' promoter Don King. The purse bid has already been pushed back to January 6th, and the promoters plan to ask for an additional extension to January 26th.

I feel so bad for Stiverne. What did this poor man do to deserve to be promoted by this ancient fool?

If Stiverne was at GB he would have Vitali's vacant belt wrapped round his waste by now.

PS. Don King is rivaling 50 Cent for that worst promoter of 2013 accolade.

Talking with other people it made sense. You want to break into the business and not all the time you can get that big promoter to sign you. You need somebody... and although he's a dirt bag, he's still a name that could probably do better than a small time promoter

Fair enough. Boxing does feel very clicky, if you don't know the right people you will get nowhere in the sport. That's why **** unworthy fighters are always being over hyped and getting paydays while the real deal sometimes gets left out in the cold.

I also doubt King does good short term deals and leaving him would be hard before being established

Well now G Jones knows how much money is on the table. Because you know if King would agree to $800K, he was probably only going to give Jones $100K. DKP's greed never ends.

I just hope he doesn't put his trust and faith into King.
Jones might think that he's getting older and deserves more money and King can do that....King seemed to have handled that positive without too much back lash.
I don't even think Jones was suspended...wasn't he named an interim champion or champion in recess by the WBA?
