Comments Thread For: Roy Jones, Hryunov Shocked: Kiss Silva Fight Goodbye

Russian promoter Vladimir "красивый" Hryunov, and 44-year-old former champion Roy Jones Jr. (57-8, 40KOs), were shocked by the unexpected ending to the rematch between 38-year-old Anderson Silva (33-6 in MMA, 16-2 in the UFC) and Chris Weidman (11-0).

Hryunov was planning to stage a cross-sport showdown between the two fighters. Earlier, Weidman knocked out Silva in the second round, snapping Silva's near seven year undefeated run and 16-0 streak in the UFC.

I mean, if anything this is the ONLY fight Silva could ever have again if he can even fight again. MMA or any combat sport with kicks is absolutely out of the question.

Wait, how is this a shock if the same guy knocked him out already once? Guess its because the grotesque nature of the ending.

Did you see the break? He won't be fighting ever again. Probably walk with a limp. If that was a horse he'd be on his way to elmers glue factory.

A couple of years ago his former Chute Box teammate Jose Pele Landi broke his shin in almost identical fashion. Few metal plates and screws later and he's had several MMA fights again.

We don't know at this point but it's possible in a couple of years.
