Martin Murray edged past old rival Sergey Khomitsky at the ExCeL Arena in London before it was revealed he would fight for a world title in February.

Murray produced a very flat performance against veteran Khomitsky, falling behind in the fight before establishing a lead after the halfway stage on an eight rounder.

The fight had been postponed from three weeks ago when the St Helens middleweight was struck down with a virus, but he refused to blame the illness on a substandard performance. [Click Here To Read More]

More reason for GGG to be ducked and dodged when paper titles can be made out of thin air. Sigh... what a **** era.

This sounds fishy to me tho. I was hoping for Murray vs GGG, but if that fight was getting made why the hell create an extra belt - sounds to me like they're thinking of a different direction if they wanna unify, and since Maravilla's not on the cards, that means Sturm or Quillin.

Damn, I hate the Alphabets pulling new belts outta their ass#s every week.

EDIT - If Monte Carlo's going to be a title fight it's gonna be with one of the WBAs top(ish) ranked guys: Geale, Fletcher, Nielson, Bursak, Chudinov (or..oh no... Garth Wood - WBAs Pan-African champ who Murray had been scheduled to fight just recently).

Dear god no..please tell me we're not gonna see Murray fight Wood for the WBA regular belt...

Same thing they did for Braehmer yesterday. It will be a setup fight at home to guarantee a bull**** "world title."

If you can't actually beat a beltholder, they make a title up for you if you have the right connections
