Comments Thread For: Manager: **Magomed Awake, On The Road To Recovery**

Boris Grinberg, the manager of heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov (18-1, 18KOs), says his boxer is no longer in a medically induced coma and has been disconnected from life support.

Following a vicious fight with Mike Perez on November 2nd at New York's Madison Square Garden, Magomed suffered a blood clot in his brain and underwent surgery. He was placed in a medically induced coma to reduce the swelling on his brain. At one point doctors were not sure if Magomed was going to live or ever be stable enough to come out of the coma.

God is good!! God is good!! Very happy to read this..this is one of those situations where everyone can agree and wish this man well. We often get carried away in our fanaticism of the sport that we fail to realize how much these men put on the line every second in the ring. I do hope that the situation in the end leads to more support of neurosciences, would be nice if boxers saw a neurologist twice a year at minimum.

That's great. Hope he has a great recovery. I honestly believe the fight should have been stopped after he kept asking was his nose broken.
