Contrary to some of the information widely circulated, the World Boxing Association informs that the fight between Eleider Álvarez from Colombia and Thomas Oosthuizen from South Africa is not sanctioned by their organization. The fight is scheduled to take place in Canada on January 18 in the light heavyweight division and has not been sanctioned by the WBA Championships Committee, so no WBA title will be at stake.
