Comments Thread For: Khabib's Return Eyed For Pacquiao Card, Two More

According to manager Vladimir Hryunov, WBA 'regular' junior welterweight champion Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-0, 9KOs) is likely going to return as part of the undercard to Manny Pacquiao's next fight, which is targeted for April 12th in Las Vegas. If all goes well, Khabib will have two more fights in 2014. Hryunov recently traveled to Las Vegas where he held a meeting with Khabib's promoter, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum.

Mayfield would be a good start. Maybe Provodnikov if Ruslan stays at 140.

April? Damn he's going to be inactive for a while. I think they should of snuck in a Khabib-Mayfield fight before the year ended. Then again, he is coming off an injury in 2013.

I just hope he fights someone good on this card. They need to get him big fights, although he's being moved pretty quick anyway

Khabib going nowhere quick after looking very promising last year

Yeah very disappointing. When he first signed with Top rank I said I thought it was a mistake and they might keep him inactive/not move him forward as much as others.

But I'll stay optimistic and assume his layoff is due to taking it slow coming off injury. And with that said, his lone fight after injury was a mandatory defense and not a voluntary defense against an overmatched opponent, so it could be worse.

Let's hope this April opponent is someone good and gives him the chance to make a name for himself. I've gotten burned with this opinion before, but I believe Khabib can be the best at 140 if he gets the chance to prove himself. John David Jackson is fantastic for him and he's got scary hunger, similar to his campmate Kovalev. Khabibs ready to eat, give him the chance Bob!
