  • Comments Thread For: Zolani Tete Stops Juan Carlos Sanchez In Ten

Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr. was given a chance to regain the 115 lb. belt he lost at the scales earlier this year. All he had to do was beat a career bridesmaid at home. Zolani Tete had other ideas, traveling all the way from South Africa to score the biggest win of his career with a 10th round stoppage Saturday evening in Mexicali, Mexico.

Both fighters hit the canvas, and Tete was well on his way to being disqualified before catching a fatigued Sanchez at the right time. A straight left hand put the former titlist down on the canvas in the 10th round, prompting referee Gary Ritter to halt the contest.

I haven't seen the fight yet but it might be time for Sanchez to move up to 118. He looked like a skeleton for this fight and his last won when he didn't make weight.

At barely 5'10", I'm less than two inches taller than Sanchez Jr. - and I haven't seen 118 since middle school.

The weight I'm sure played a factor. I had him up by five points or so after nine rounds, but he was already gassed by that point.

Good for Tete. He is my homeboy. His first lose against Mthalane was because he was immature and inexperienced. I would love to see the bout gents. they did not show it in S.A.
