  • Comments Thread For: Roach: Mayweather Needs Pacquiao For PPV, Not Khan

Trainer Freddie Roach is hungry for to secure WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. as a 2014 opponent for Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather has a set return date of May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao's next date is scheduled for April 12, likely in Las Vegas.

The next opponent for Mayweather is rumored to be Amir Khan, while Pacquiao's is going to face either WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley or Juan Manuel Marquez in a fifth fight. Roach prefers the fifth fight with Marquez.

Mayweather has an exclusive multi-fight contract with Showtime. Mayweather's plans to fight in May and then on September 13th. Roach doesn't see any opponent, for Mayweather, being more profitable than Pacquiao.

For once Roach was on point. And even he said "I really hope Bob makes the fight happen for us."

There you go, even Roach says it's on that dusty ass fossil to make it happen.

Please. Floyd could fight me and do 800K to 1 mil.

He's on point, but it goes both ways. I'm not sure what the ppv projections look like for Manny-Rios so I'll leave that be. It may do worse than May-Guerrero so if both these guys want that unheard of type money, then they both need each other.

I'm not eager for it. There's just too much bad blood, and too many bridges burned so I won't hold my breath.
