Comments Thread For: Brandon Rios: Nobody’s Tune-Up Fight

By Thomas Gerbasi - No one likes to lose. At the higher levels of the fight game, people like losing even less, and that’s not just their competitive spirit talking, but their wallet. A loss hurts your bottom line and your future earning ability. So when Brandon Rios suffered the first defeat of his pro career to Mike Alvarado in March, he was understandably hurt.

“When I lost my fight, it hit me a little bit and I was sad because I thought I’d have to start all over again,” admitted the former world lightweight champion, who nonetheless didn’t stay down in the dumps for long. He realized that this was part of the game and that he was still a marketable fighter. How marketable? Marketable enough that he was about to get the biggest fight of his career despite coming off a loss. [Click Here To Read More]

Brando is a tough muddafu**er! He gunna fair better in this fight than most of y'all expect. Solid strong fighter is not the best pick for an opponent for Pacman's first fight back from viscious K.O. Remember what happened to RJJ after that Tarver loss when he fought Glen Johnson!!! Roy was supposed to win that "tune up" and get back into the mix.. right?

Rios will always have the puncher's chance but he gets hit way too much adn Pac is going to to maul him with his accurate punching.

Lets not forget that Rios also lost to Abril. He was undefeated on paper but deep down inside he knew he lost to him

I'm not sure Rios has a 'deep down inside'.

          Yes you are!

Brandon has got NO chance. He may be tough but beating another guy with your face trying to break his hands is not a good style. Brandon will get brutalized. BRUTALIZED.

The Jones, JR vs Johnson bout is not this bout. Rios doesn't have the speed, defense or movement to beat Pacquiao. This is exactly the fight that Pac needs to get back into the mix. Rios is tough, fights in the pocket and is fearless. Manny is also tough, very fast (speed kills!) and a strong puncher. This fight will show everyone, including Pacquiao himself, whether he still has it or not.

Well, i heard that pac was having trouble in training camp, if u really ask me i feel like he's lost the fire for boxing, a KO loss like the one he took from marquez is a hard one to come back from

bet on Rios, no one gives him a chance, but I'm tellin' ya, its gonna be interesting

I believed in Garcia and Rios opinions that Rios is not walk-in-the-park opponent for Pac because I believe too that Pac was not cherry-picking when he chose Rios as his next opponent. Just wishing that Rios was not just covering his fears or anything when he made the talks, to make him live opposition and a nut hard to breaks!
