Comments Thread For: Arfan Iqbal Shines Like a Star in Senior Drilling

Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent - In his most important fight to date, Arfan Iqbal shined like a star against Irish import Leon Senior (10-2). The 22-year old light heavyweight, known for his sparring sessions with Tyson Fury, dropped Sneior with a smashing right hand in the first, then with an uppercut - in the second, and got the job done at 0:42 of the sixth with another uppercut-induced knockdown and a subsequent flurry of punches. Iqbal is now 7-0, 3 KOs.

Impressed but he certainly didn't shine. Apparently he resembles a young James Toney too?

Would like to see him step it up but I can see getting taken apart by someone with a good jab and strong boxing skills.

He's only young but he was lunging in with shots and was very lucky he was fighting a guy with 0 kos. The uppercut that caused the 3rd knockdown was a lovely punch and at times he shown littles flashes, but he was far too eager when he thought senior was hurt.

He needs a lot more work before he can step up to fight the likes of Mackenzie or Mcintosh or anyone else at British title level.

Not bad at 22, he needs work though. There's no need to rush him into anything. Take his time.
