American fans are anything but fairweather fans; there are plenty of American champions that are on the top of their game and no one gives a **** about them around here.

Yeah, I think they're more bandwagon fans than fairweather fans, hopping on the latest next big thing and hopping off if they lose (irrespective of nationality).

Generalising of course, it doesn't apply to everyone.

I think when it comes to boxing american are not as patriotic as other countries, but for me that's a great thing, if you are good they would watch or support you. Another thing is the immigrant thing.

There are at least 8-10 more prominent sports than boxing in America. When people say boxing is dead in America, they're usually referring to its lack of commercial popularity. I don't think it makes Americans worse fans than others; it just means we have better **** to watch than boxing.

Generalizations don't really apply to Americans, since the country is large and segmented. Each major region is much different than the others (West, East, South, Midwest). I'd say Americans in the South are much more loyal/patriotic than any other fans in the world (especially for college football and nascar) or at least near the top. (Southerners still wear/support Confederate regalia lol.)

But I wouldn't expect brits to know that.

Most Americans are fair weather when it comes to boxing thats because Football & Basketball moves the needle here. We have 24/7 sports media so when Floyd isn't fighting boxing really isn't put in the spotlight.

Do you think boxing is the most prominent sport over here?
