Comments Thread For: Roman Gonzalez vs. Edgar Sosa Looms For 2014?

Japanese promoter Akihiko Honda would like to match Roman Gonzalez (36-0, 30KOs) against Edgar Sosa (49-7, 29KOs), if both fighters are able to achieve victory in their next bouts. Both boxers will appear in separate shows being staged by Honda's Teiken Promotions. On December 6th in Tokyo, Sosa will challenge WBC flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi (18-3, 9KOs), and on November 6th, also in Tokyo, Gonzalez will face veteran Oscar Blanquet (32-6-1, 23KOs). Gonzalez recently moved up to the flyweight division and wants another crown. He defeated 13 Mexican opponents in his undefeated run, including current WBO/WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada.

Why can't Gonzalez just fight the winner of Yaegashi-Sosa?

Makes me feel like Sosa is expected to lose to Yaegashi or something. I don't like it. Yaegashi is the true champ of the division. They should want him for Chocolatito if he beats Sosa.

I'm pretty sure there have already been talks of a rematch between Yaegashi and Ioka. Ioka and Gonzalez are both moving up to 112, but the Ioka fight would be more money for Yaegashi.

That'd be awesome if it happens and makes sense in business.
I do think Yaegashi/Roman would be good.
              At least there's still Estrada

They need to face off and then that winner should fight the winner of Estrada-Segura, and it will give us an undisputed champ at 112

I don't give a **** who Roman fights next it just has to be somebody good. He got messed over by the WBA when he wanted to move up and fight Reveco. He was willing to drop his 108 lb strap and fight him but the WBA said he would not be ranked or in line to fight for the Reveco built. It's BS if you ask me.
