Comments Thread For: Beltran Eyes Top Names if Burns Rematch Falls Through

A career spanning 35 fights, 28 of those wins and 17 by KO, Raymundo Beltran has been largely recognized as Manny Pacquaio's main sparring partner. Beltran has won a majority ten round decision over the WBC number one lightweight contender Henry Lundy, to win the WBC NABF Lightweight title. Beltran is also the former owner of the WBC Continental Americas Super Featherweight title. On September 7th, Beltran finally stood out from the sparring partner shadow that followed him. Traveling to Scotland to face WBO Lightweight Champion Ricky Burns, Beltran put forth a career best performance. Burns was on the canvas in the 8th round, and courageously battled through a broken jaw. Many felt Beltran had done enough to win the fight. The draw handed down from the judges meant Burns retained his title. [Click Here To Read More]

Not too soon for Burns imo, he lost anyways. If his jaw were really broke his mouth would've been wired shut so it may not be as bad as they say, that x-ray could be anyones. Burns doesn't have a chioce...if he's a man of his word he'll offer Beltran more money for the rematch and get it done, or face Crawford his mandatory. Either way Burns will lose.

No one gives a **** about Beltran in America so why on earth would he think the rematch could take place there?

I know it was a bad decision and he did beat Burns but if he really wanted it and to set the record stright he'd fight Burns anywhere.

The money for that fight is only in Scotland anyway

his jaw was broken, the x-ray results prove that.

he has already stated in the local press in his country that he is giving him a rematch.

Beltran won every round when I scored it

If Burns was a honorable man than he would fight Beltran in America where Beltran would get a fair shot at winning.

Just make Crawford vs. Beltran. That's the fight that should be taking place regardless unless Beltran has his heart set on getting a green box on BoxRec and a paper strap. Besides, they robbed him once, what makes him think that they won't do it again?

This would be a solid card:

                    Lomachenko/Salido
                    Crawford/Beltran
