The Roseland Ballroom — a historic concert venue in New York City that has also played host to several boxing cards — will close in April 2014, according to Billboard magazine.

Roseland Ballroom is located on 52nd Street in the borough of Manhattan. According to BoxRec.com, the ballroom has hosted 26 boxing cards, with 21 of them taking place since 2006. Several recognizable names have performed there, with the most notable fights being the first war between Pawel Wolak and Delvin Rodriguez, and a 115-pound title fight between Dmitry Kirilov and Cecilio Santos in 2008. Star boxing did a lot of cards there, they were always amongst the worst fights I've ever been to.

Was a great venue for boxing though, was perfectly set up for it.

@Addix...Star Boxing did 2 shows there only, both ESPN cards 1 of which was Fight of the Year Rodriguez-Wolak. Roseland is a home for DBE and most of their cards were good.

Can't believe Roseland is closing down. I guess nothing lasts forever. I won't even remember the place for boxing, but for the nightlife. I was big into the club scene from the beginning of the eighties. Roseland was a pretty popular spot.
