Comments Thread For: Chavez Sr.: Junior 'Probably' Going Back To Roach

Julio Cesar Chavez has indicated that his son will re-hire Freddie Roach as his head trainer following his fight Saturday night against Bryan Vera.

Mexico’s most beloved boxer will work his son’s corner Saturday night, but Chavez intimated that Roach’s return to their team would be good for the embattled ex-middleweight title-holder’s career.

“We have a lot of respect for Freddie Roach,” Chavez said during an Internet interview with Banner Promotions, which represents Vera. “Probably, after this fight Julio’s going to go back with Freddie Roach.”

Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC) hasn’t decided who’ll train him after facing Vera (23-6, 14 KOs) in their HBO “World Championship Boxing” main event at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

This whole team is a mess. It might not be a bad idea to lay some money down on Vera.

Chavez Sr. must have been an awful father to have produced a child like Chavez Jr. Smh so much potential but Jr will never fulfill it.

Chavez won't train with Garcia cause I doubt Garcia would put up with his ****. Roach might train him cause its another payday. Roach has put up with a lot of **** in the last couple of years with PAC , Chavez. They do what they want cause its guaranteed $$$

Jr's whole career has been fraudulent -- built on carefully selected opponents except for Martinez which Jr came up way short -- 2nd level guys like Vera are more his speed -- too bad because he does have some skills, can punch and move but his team has been so risk averse that he hasn't been able to develop in tough fights -- Jr probably has enough to beat Vera but his heart may not be in it any more so Vera might be able to discourage him by being relentlessly aggressive and punching like crazy....

Train w/ Garcia. You can ****talk in spanish and eat burritos w/ Brandon Rios all year long.

              Sounds like a good deal.

Hey it's hard being the son of a legend: Michael Jordans sons, Will Smiths son, etc. Usually they can never live up to their father or just become lazy because they have everything already from getting pampered aka Magic Johnsons son and Jackie Chan's lol

Hope for Freddie Roach he (Chavez) dont come back. He treated Freddie like his father too, standing him up for training then not listening to him in the corner "ya yaya ya" of martinez fight.

OK well he will be going back to get KTFO lol. Chavez Jr. needs to continue to stay at 160 and away from the 168-175 division where he will get wrecked. Funny part is he should be at 175 in all honesty. He stays at 160 because he knows he will be a mountain of **** at 168 and 175. He wins by bullying around smaller guys, obviously with the exception of being outclassed in 11.5 rds my Sergio. Chavez Jr. has a nice left hook (genetic) nothing more, not even real power.

I think you have some unrealistic expectations of what chavez Jr couldof done in the ring. He's a good fighter but nothing more then that.
