  • Comments Thread For: Ariza is Puzzled With Chavez Jr's Weight Problems

Strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza can’t understand the weight problems of former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., whose fight against No.1 contender Brian Vera will be at a catch-weight of 173 pounds over ten rounds when it was originally discussed for 163 pounds over twelve rounds.

Ariza who was previously working with Chavez Jr. told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard that trainer Freddie Roach had indicated he would not train Chavez Jr. if Ariza was involved, adding “everybody wants to get me out and this is the kind of thing that happens.”

Ariza said he couldn’t understand how Julio could have gone up in weight when he’s been training for six months.

Chavez Jr aint nothing special anyways.. Who really cares. If it wasnt for daddy he would be a nobody..

Please no Martinez Chavez rematch, Chavez was gun shy and schooled for much of the whole fight til his high went away and he finally realized he was in a boxing match so he fought back..

I love that Ariza is the guy lots of people refuse to work, but he thinks its all them. The common thread there is you Ariza, dumb ****.

Pac's whole team for the last five or so years has been dirty, greedy and corrupt. All out for themselves riding on Pac and his success.

I like Chavez Jr. but the weight problem is simple..He's a freaking light-heavy weight who fights at light middle weight where he is much bigger and stronger than whoever he fights!!!! Bob Arum being the person that he is, will allow this circus act to continue as long as he can make money because just like Canelo, when they go to their real weight class they wont have weight advantages and actually have to win using boxing skills..

He got caught with diuretics and can't use them anymore. There, puzzle has been solved. He now has to fight guys his own size.

I'd like to Chavez move up a division.
It's going to be difficult for him to secure any big fights at 160 while there is always a question mark hanging over his head regarding making weight.

He needs to go ahead and move up to cruiserweight. Pretty sure he could stay there for a while.
