Well that newspaper excerpt should settle THAT !!. And I'm not so ****** after all, even though it's about 50 years since I read about it in RING. They always used to reprint their top articles and believe me, they were top. Their reporters ate, slept and drank boxing and all their spare time was spent at it. Thank you for finding it.I think they want you to register. When I login I have no problems.
That's interesting though. Here is the article in the NY Times:
LOUIS EXHIBITION TUESDAY;
Commission Approves Buffalo Bout
Sergeant Joe Louis, world heavyweight champion on furlough from the Army after overseas service, yesterday received permission from the State Athletic Commission to engage in an exhibition bout as part of his current tour. The exhibition will be against Johnny Davis, Brooklynite, in Buffalo on Tuesday night.

Yes, I see that they ask to log in,, but I've had so much computer trouble pressing the wrong keys at the wrong time that I hesitate to log into anything any more. My computer "skills" are inverse to my boxing memory.....sort of.Comment

You lost our debate so bad it aint funny LOL
Louis did have 14 title defenses in in 2 yrs that was never disputed by me only in your scrabble game , they were of such low grade opponents they were given the title of " Bum of the Month " by history , look it up fool its well documented .
That's my point kid , they were for the vast majority bums , if you know anything they had to be lol , go ask anybody involved in training or boxing at championship level .
Do you realize you haven't answered a single question I put to you , because you have no answer .Comment

You picked 3 good examples right there. Barney Ross was one of the first triple titleholders, light, light-welter, welter. Lou Ambers was Lightweight champ when Armstrong beat him, and Ceferino Garcia was a Welter challenger and Middles champ. When Armstrong drew with Garcia he weighed 139 against Garcia's 152. i always remember these figures.LMAO. This clown right here trying to save face.
He said
I said:
And he named 2 guys that he thought were bums out of over 20 title defenses. Since he's a bufoon that doesn't know what he's talking about, he doesn't realize that:
Al Manfredo, his first selection (which wasn't even a title fight) was Armstrong's 15th or so fight that year. His 3 fights prior were:
Barney Ross - Hall of famer and CERTIFIED ATG. No question.
Lou Ambers - Hall of famer
Cerefino Garcia - Hall of famer
Three hall of famers defeated within a span of six months, in a year in which he fought 15 times and held titles in 3 different divisions (no junior divisions: Feather, Light and Welter). I mean damn, the guy was probably dog tired. And get this, he fought two of those hall of famers at a 15 pound ****in weight disadvantage.
You simply don't know what the **** your talking about cuz. Give it up.Comment

Yes. I've lost a debate where several are in agreement with me, yet none with you. I lost a debate where you still don't understand why the term "bum of the month" was coined. I've lost a debate where you've tried to rewrite history. You lost our debate so bad it aint funny LOL

See, this is the idiotic s h i t that I never understood about the Floyd haters.....can you name me one single fighter in the history of the sport that stepped in a ring with the mindset "this is the fight I'm going to lose, let me see if I'm good enough to beat him because he's better than me". Name me 1 fighter who doesn't think he's gonna beat his opponent.Comparing FLoyd to the GREAT Joe Louis? What a disgrace!
Point #1: Floyd is allowed to pick who he fights. Do you think FLoyd will fight if he thinks he'll loose? NO
Floyd fans cannot get past this major obsticle, as close to cheating his way to the record books.
Imagine if Louis got to pick who he wanted to defend or win a title from, he'd be undefeated with a 50+ winstreak.Comment
