What does that have to do with your original post? Absolutely nothing if you're honest (don't worry, I won't hold my breath). You asserted that Mayweather hasn't fought a prime "legit" (you never defined this ambiguous term, probably on purpose) fighter in 7 years. Then went o to say that only Pacquiao would be acceptable, when he doesn't fit your original criteria. Make up your mind what you want to debate before you spout off and it might make more sense. Oh, and Ricky Hatton proves your thread is wrong. He was prime, legit and in the last 7 years.

Am I missing something....because I swear the op acts like Floyd is 25 years old, picking on young and old fighters. Prior to the Canelo fight he was scared of the young powerful bigger man...now Canelo is green with 40 plus professional fights, no good, when in reality he is probably the best fighter not named Floyd out there.

1. Golovkin is much bigger
2. Golovkin has never fought in a weight class floyd has fought in.
3. Golovkin hasn't beaten anybody of note.
4. Golovkin has a paper title so he offers little in the way of prestige.
5. Golovkin brings no money to the table.
6. Golovkin has no real resume so he is not really a legacy fight either.
7. Golovkin has a contract with HBO and Floyd is a Showtime fighter rite now.

Lol Mayweather is one hell of a promoter and can sell a fight no doubt and I used to be convinced of his greatness but the guy has been facing shot, or green inexperienced fighters for the last 7 years. Pacquiao's unofficial win against prime Bradley is better than any win on Floyd's resume from the past seven years. now I understand why they call him a cherrypicker look at his resume, full of inexperienced and shot fighters.

Now we all would love to see Mayweather lose.

You have to understand Mayweather is not faster or stronger than some of his opponents but the one thing he has mastered is outsmarting all of his opponents and that's why they look old or green against him.

Objectively Floyd is the best fighter on the planet, but his resume doesn't exactly scream all time great (the names matter not the # of belts or "champs" he fought, but the NAMES). He easily has the best skills we've seen in 30 years so its a tough call to know if he is choosing carefully or just that good.

Personally I'd like to have seen him move up to fight Sergio 1-2 years back to know for sure. Many other ATGs have moved up to seek new challenges and I dont see why Floyd shouldn't. In fact, his fans should want this.

I appreciate Floyd's talents but he shld fight a live body. someone who could be a threat. if size is the threat then so be it!!

Marvin Hagler is a legend in boxing. How many divisions did he move up? Do we hold it against him?

Each fighter has their limits. A fighter that can't make 154lbs on fight night can be given a pass for not fighting at 160lbs. It'd be amazing if Mayweather did it, but can't be held against him if he doesn't.
