Mayweather hasn't faced a legit prime opponent in 7 years

i already mentioned ricky and he didn't respond because he knows it's true ,also like you said fighting manny would mean floyd beat another ww that's not in his prime lol but that's a fight he wants desperately. What does that have to do with your original post? Absolutely nothing if you're honest (don't worry, I won't hold my breath). You asserted that Mayweather hasn't fought a prime "legit" (you never defined this ambiguous term, probably on purpose) fighter in 7 years. Then went o to say that only Pacquiao would be acceptable, when he doesn't fit your original criteria. Make up your mind what you want to debate before you spout off and it might make more sense. Oh, and Ricky Hatton proves your thread is wrong. He was prime, legit and in the last 7 years.
Must try harder.
it's funny how these dudes are trying to suggest ortiz and canelo aren't prime while floyd's in his late 30s if floyd was 23 and canelo 36 they'd say floyd beat a old canelo itn never endsComment

When it comes down to it; when or if they do fight and Floyd wins, these guys will say Floyd beat a past his prime Pacquiao and ducked a prime Pacquiao. We all know it will come and they probably already had it copyrighted so whats the point of making a thread like this.Comment

Am I missing something....because I swear the op acts like Floyd is 25 years old, picking on young and old fighters. Prior to the Canelo fight he was scared of the young powerful bigger man...now Canelo is green with 40 plus professional fights, no good, when in reality he is probably the best fighter not named Floyd out there.Comment

Why not? Let's see...Originally posted by chitowhy not? who do you want him to fight?
1. Golovkin is much bigger
2. Golovkin has never fought in a weight class floyd has fought in.
3. Golovkin hasn't beaten anybody of note.
4. Golovkin has a paper title so he offers little in the way of prestige.
5. Golovkin brings no money to the table.
6. Golovkin has no real resume so he is not really a legacy fight either.
7. Golovkin has a contract with HBO and Floyd is a Showtime fighter rite now.
Now, how about u tell me why he should fight him. Give me albeit reason, just one.Comment

If he wins, it doesn't matter about the opponent. He won't have fought someone legit until he loses. This dude says Garcia would be legit, but only until he loses, then Garcia will be green, unskilled, untested, inexperienced etc etc. Another cherry pick.Comment

Now we all would love to see Mayweather lose.Lol Mayweather is one hell of a promoter and can sell a fight no doubt and I used to be convinced of his greatness but the guy has been facing shot, or green inexperienced fighters for the last 7 years. Pacquiao's unofficial win against prime Bradley is better than any win on Floyd's resume from the past seven years.
now I understand why they call him a cherrypicker
look at his resume, full of inexperienced and shot fighters.
You have to understand Mayweather is not faster or stronger than some of his opponents but the one thing he has mastered is outsmarting all of his opponents and that's why they look old or green against him.
Give the man some credit. Whether you like it or not he is entertaining outside the ring. It's like a circus show with him and his family.

There is some truth to the original post...some. Objectively Floyd is the best fighter on the planet, but his resume doesn't exactly scream all time great (the names matter not the # of belts or "champs" he fought, but the NAMES). He easily has the best skills we've seen in 30 years so its a tough call to know if he is choosing carefully or just that good.
Personally I'd like to have seen him move up to fight Sergio 1-2 years back to know for sure. Many other ATGs have moved up to seek new challenges and I dont see why Floyd shouldn't. In fact, his fans should want this.Comment

We call this the bully mentality. Go tell GG to fight a LHW.Originally posted by chitoso who do you him to fight next? if size is really a problem plus tons of other things you presented here? lol
I appreciate Floyd's talents but he shld fight a live body. someone who could be a threat. if size is the threat then so be it!!Comment

Marvin Hagler is a legend in boxing. How many divisions did he move up? Do we hold it against him? There is some truth to the original post...some. Each fighter has their limits. A fighter that can't make 154lbs on fight night can be given a pass for not fighting at 160lbs. It'd be amazing if Mayweather did it, but can't be held against him if he doesn't.Comment
