Comments Thread For: Chisora Eyes December Return, Wants Fury Rematch

Heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora offered one of the most disciplined performances of his wild career with Saturday’s 5th round stoppage of Edmund Gerber in London. For his next trick, he would love nothing more than to erase the memory of one of his most regrettable nights in the ring.

Chisora entered Saturday’s bout at a career-lightest 235 lb. His dedication to conditioning was evident from opening bell, looking sharp early and mentally focused throughout, even when suffering a brief scare in round four. His physique was a far cry of his first professional loss, coming up short against countryman Tyson Fury more than two years ago, when he came in at 261 lb, the heaviest he’s ever weighed for a prize fight. Fury won't take this, why would he? He's won once why risk an in shape chisora loss?

He's already won, why risk that victory?

All you hear about that fight is how out of shape Chisora was. Fury was also out of shape. He was out drinking until the early hours on the day of the fight. He also fought for 10 rounds with a broken hand! He didn't train properly until the Rogan fight.

I like both Chisora & Fury. I don't think either one could beat either Klitschko but they both make me laugh.

We need more characters in the sport.

I'm chuffed Del Boy is taking the sport seriously.

Also chuffed that he'll be crying over Man Utd losing now.

Just watched the Chisors-Gerber fight. Chisora looked very sharp and fought an almost perfect fight albeit against a uninspired opponent. He fights at a measured pace, combining inside come forward fighting with an 'outside' offense as well. I liked how he turned it up once he found his range and started picking Gerber apart.

Also glad that he's fighting frequently and facing decent opposition. Hopefully he gets the fight with Deontay Wilder this December

How do you think he would square off against Arreloa?

If Arreola came in in shape I'd favour him.

The build up would be hilarious.

I think he matches up well against Arreola; in fact it would be great fight. Chisora has a deceively good defense, I think. He doesn't get hit with a lot of big shots. He blocks a lot punches with gloves, bob 'n weaves and smothers his opponents. Against a big puncher and decent boxer like Arreola, he would have to be a little more careful coming in face first.

Fury was probbably in the best shape of his career up until that point against Chisora.

True, but still nothing like nowadays.

He was fit enough to throw punches for more than 30 seconds a round though, unlike Chisora.

But he was only just turned 23 then which is very young for most heavyweights. In theory he's still five years away from his prime.
